The Trawler Restaurant & Takeaway - About Us
The Trawler Restaurant and Fish and Chips shop, on the North East coast in the Highlands, is situated in the beautiful coastal village of Golspie, home to the world famous Dunrobin Castle. Founded in 1964, The Trawler is a popular restaurant and takeaway, which has built an excellent reputation locally for the quality of its food. We are the 100th Fish and Chip Shop in the UK to have received the Fish and Chip Quality Award from the National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF) for our tasty food. All our food is fresh and cooked to order so it is well worth the wait.
The owner of The Trawler, Christie Gray, has many years of experience working within the hospitality industry. Providing customers with quality cuisine and a professional service lies at the heart of his business ethos. Having run the Trawler for 5 years now, Christie has made it the award winning takeaway and restaurant that it is today, through hard work and the support of his loyal staff. We are continually striving to improve on our standards by listening and acting upon the feedback that we receive from our customers. After all, it is our customers who have given us the great reputation that we enjoy today!
Christie's wife, Dawn, also assists behind the scenes with marketing and promotional work. Her Granddad once owned and ran a chippie takeaway in England so she knows the importance of service with a personal touch and serving consistently, delicious food.
Here at the trawler we feel passionate about being able to give something back to the community, therefore each year we raise funds for a different charity of our choice. Currently we are supporting the multiple sclerosis society, where we are donating all our 5p charges from our bags directly to this charity. We are also personally involved with a young man in inverness who has multiple sclerosis which has tragically turned his world upside down. We are very proud to support such a worthwhile cause.
Supporting our local charities is also very close to our hearts too and recently we held a fundraising event, during which we managed to raised over £700 for a charity called Tykes in Golspie. They support young carers from all over Sutherland who have had to take on the parental responsibility at a very young age due to various issues, including alcohol and addiction problems, within their family circle. This charity supports the young carers by giving them the opportunity to become the young people that they are and reduce the overwhelming responsibility through respite, outings and a support club. We are also very proud to be able to support these worthwhile charities here in our local village and will continue to support such charities locally in the future.
